Privacy
What we collect, why, and how to have it removed. Plain language, no surprises.
The short version
We keep what you send us so we can reply and do the work. We also measure how the site is used, and you can turn that off with a switch on this page. We don’t sell your information, and you can ask us to delete anything you’ve sent at any time.
What we collect
Only what you send us:
- The contact and estimate forms. Your name, email, business, and message, plus any estimate details you build. This goes straight to our inbox.
- Booking a call. Your name, email, phone, business, anything you add and your time zone, kept in our booking system and on our calendar so we can call you and you can move or cancel it. We email you a confirmation and reminders about the call, and a copy of the booking comes to our inbox.
- Where you came from. Your browser keeps a note of how you found us (an ad’s reference or campaign tags, or the site that linked you) and the page you landed on, for 90 days. It goes along with a booking, message or estimate, so we know which ads and links bring people in. Nothing is sent unless you send us something.
- The “ask this site” chat. The messages you type are sent to our AI provider to write a reply. When you close the chat, switch tabs or leave the page, a copy of the conversation and the page you were on comes to our inbox, so we can follow up on what people ask. Don’t put anything sensitive in it. To keep the chat from being abused, we count how many questions each visitor asks in a day, under a one-way code made from your IP address, never the address itself; the counts are deleted after a week.
- The free site check. The website address you enter, which we fetch and read. We only read what’s public: that page, its robots.txt and its sitemap. The address isn’t stored.
That’s what you give us. Your browser also remembers a few small things for itself, like light or dark, how many times you’ve visited (so the greeting can change when you come back) and the chat’s conversation until you close the tab. What the site records as you use it is in the next section.
What the site records
We measure how the site is used, so we can fix what’s confusing and see which ads lead to real bookings. Four services do it:
- Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights. They count page views and note the site that sent you, your country, your device type and how fast pages load. They use no cookies and keep nothing that identifies a person.
- PostHog (servers in the US). It records how the site is used: the pages you visit, clicks, scrolling and session replays. Everything you type is masked in the replays, and so is the chat. It keeps an ID in your browser to tie a visit together. If you book a call, send a message or send an estimate, that visit is linked to your email, so we can see what you looked at before you wrote in. It isn’t loaded for visitors in European time zones.
- Google (Tag Manager, Analytics and Ads). Used when we advertise on Google. It measures visits and which ads lead to bookings, using Google’s cookies under Google Consent Mode. Ad storage stays off for visitors in the EU, UK and Switzerland.
- Vercel BotID. It checks form and chat requests for signs of automation, so bots can’t fill our inbox or run up the chat bill. It builds no profile of you.
We use this to improve the site and to judge our ads, and for nothing else.
How we use it
To answer you, prepare a quote, run the check or chat you asked for, hold the call you booked, see which ads and links bring people in, improve the site from how it’s used, and keep a record of our conversation so we can pick it back up. Those are the only reasons we hold any of it.
Who processes it
We keep the work in a few trusted services, each handling one job:
- Resend sends the emails: your messages, quotes, bookings and chat transcripts to us, and your booking confirmation and reminders to you.
- Anthropic powers the chat and receives the messages you send it.
- Supabase stores the booking records and the chat’s daily counts.
- Google Calendar holds each booked call on our calendar, with your name, contact details and note.
- Vercel hosts the site, processes standard server request logs, and runs the page analytics and the bot checks.
- PostHog records how the site is used, as described above.
- Google measures visits and ads when we advertise on Google.
They act on our behalf and only for these purposes. We never sell or rent your information to anyone.
How long we keep it
Form messages and chat transcripts stay in our inbox as long as they’re useful for working together, then get cleared out. Booking records stay in our booking system until you ask us to delete them, and a cancelled call comes off our calendar. Site-check addresses aren’t stored at all. A visit that was never linked to your email can’t be traced back to you, so there’s nothing of yours to delete; one that was linked can be removed on request. Ask us to delete anything and we will.
Your choices
Email us at jake@undertime.studio to see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. There’s no account to manage and no marketing list to leave.
To stop the analytics, you have two ways. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we honor it automatically and there’s nothing to click. Or use this switch, which works for this browser only:
Analytics are on for this browser.
With analytics off, PostHog isn’t loaded, Vercel Analytics gets no page views, and Google’s cookies and ad storage stay off. Speed Insights still measures page speed, and the bot checks still run on forms and chat.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date below. Material changes will be obvious on this page.
